Born and raised in Brandon, Florida, Rock began his baseball journey playing Little League at North Brandon before becoming a four-year varsity starter at Brandon High School. During the summers, he competed at a high level with Chet Lemon’s Juice travel program.
After high school, Rock received a full scholarship offer to play at the University of Miami and was also drafted as a catcher by the Boston Red Sox. He chose a different path, attending the State College of Florida, where he led the state in HRs and RBIs. In 2011, he was drafted by the Chicago Cubs as a first baseman/outfielder.
Rock spent four seasons in the Cubs’ minor league system, earning All-Star honors in 2013 and finishing 2nd in the Home Run Derby. In 2015, he was selected in the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 Draft by the Texas Rangers and played for the Round Rock Express. He then spent two more years competing in independent baseball before retiring from professional play.
With over 25 years of experience in playing and coaching, Rock’s mission now is to pass that knowledge on to the next generation of ballplayers here at G3 Baseball.
